Question Question about the clock pod

I'm wondering how much room there is underneath the clock & it's bezel once it has been removed.

Does the bottom of the unit rest against the air ducts or are there a few inches of clearance below?

I've searched and found pics of the underside of the clock pod, but nothing showing the hole in the dash left behind once the clock is removed.

I know I can get to work with a panel tool in my own car, but hopefully someone out there can save me a little time and broken retaining clips.
