sorry if this sounds stupid, but has anyone heard of installing boost gauge vacuum line off the tubing coming from the waistgait - this would theoretically seem like a great place to measure pure boost pressure, just wondering if anyone knows if a lined teed in downstream of where the line providing the reading to the ECM would at all affect ECM readings and therefore change signals to the wastegate control solenoid?
You are supposed to run it off of the manifold vacuum line. Heres where i installed mine... hope it helps.

Mods:
Engine- COBB AP, stage 2 Perrin map and intake, SPT CB exhaust and Invidia catted DP.
Suspension- SSR Type-F 18x8 +45 offset, Rallitek F/R swaybars and HD endlinks, H&R springs, camber bolts and Cusco front strut tower bar.
Exterior/Interior- '09 WRX grill, Factory Front lip, Fog lights, STi 5 speed shift knob, Armrest extension, painted rear chrome strip and debadged trunk.

hmmm.... everything else i've read had it picking off the waste gate..

i teed off the vac line on bpv
I did the same, and its reading the same as my accessport.

lol thats not a wastegate , thats the factory bypass valvei installed mine here beside the wastegate:

I guess when I said, "me too", I was going off his picture.
Next to the factory BOV, or bypass valve...you are totally right!
