AC outlets where ashtray used to be

Right now I'm installing 2 AC outlets and a 200W power inverter where the ash tray used to be. I'm thinking I'm just going to wire the +12V and the ground directly into the wires coming from the cig lighter I'll use thicker wires if need be. Any comments or advice, post away. Pics will be up when I'm done.

More than likely, the 200w inverter is going to pull more current than the factory wires can handle. I would recommend running heavier gauge wires. Attach the 12 volt wire to the heavy gauge acc. wire in your ignition harness and ground it to a factory bolt or make a new ground to bare metal.

thanks for the tips. This inverter was designed to run out of a cig lighter, which is why i was considering just tapping in, but if i want to still use the cig lighter for anything, i bet i will need lower gauge. the inverter is a near perfect fit in the ashtray cubbie once i took out the rails.
