shift knob annoyance

my friend gave me a sparco shift knob...so i put it in my car...but its not the twist on...instead u use a allen key and tighten it on at the bottom...however with it in place...it isnt still...when i shift or apply force up or down it hits the metal inside the knob (the thread)...how do i solve this problem???

wrap some grip tape/hockey tape/medical tape around the shaft of the shift lever.

tru...i was stuffin tissue paper into it but it was still moving...tape...DIY just for me...simple solution thanx

if your friend has the parts that came with the knob there are spacers that came with the knob that would be the most solid.
