    Its pretty pointless in a stock WRX, but when you start heavily modding your engine and increasing its HP output, you'll want one. It will tell you if your engine is running properly by measuring your exhaust temperature. Thats basically it.

    EGT gauges are a type of "safeguard". After you learn your car's min, max, and average EGT temps, you'll be able to see how hot your car is running. This is useful in determining whether your car is running lean or not. An EGT gauge is not foolproof though, and if you have moderate to heavy engine work and want to get a more precise idea of how your car is running, I'd recommend a Wideband O2 gauge.
