Funny Smell in my new 02' I just bought.....

Ok, so I didnt notice this until a few days ago but I bought an 02' WRX sedan a few weeks ago and it has a weird smell that I think comes from the vents or inside the engine bay. The reason I think it is coming from the inside of the bay is because when my windows are down I can really smell it. It smells like straight up feces at times. I scoured the interior and it smells fine. Could it be the Catalytic converters? I wanna eradicate this problem and I hope somoen can give me some ideas on what it could be.

dead mice in the vents? if you just bought the can something might have crawled into it into the winter and died and now that it has warmed up they are decaying.

If it smells like rotten eggs, its probably a catalytic converter. Does it stink right away, or is it after the car has warmed up a bit?

if you have a bov, that will only deteriorate the cats quicker too.

If you have a sort of Sulphur/Rotten egg smell going on it's likely your cats

Sup guys, i'm actually on vacation in Mexico now so it's hard for me to see this post but now I actually have a chance. The car just passed 40k and it is in really mint condition everywhere. As we speak I have the full Turbo XS turbo back exhaust going on it along with the TurboXS uppipe. So that will completely remove the cats. I will know then if that solves the problem. Any more suggestions just lemme know.

well then you will have a new stench...the familiar catless stench which smells of unburnt gas / and or an old mail/ice cream truck.
