    which amp for my sub

    hey guys i just picked up a MTX:Thunder 4500 12' sub from my friend. and i jus wanted to know what type/size of amp should i go with..i dont want to spend to much money..thanx guys

    Depending on its impedance and whether it is a single voice coil sub or dual voice coil will determine what amp you will need to power it. I looked at the specs and it says the sub is rated at 225 watts RMS. In this case, I would recommend pushing about 250-275 watts RMS. Now if your sub is a single voice coil, your amp will need to have a final load of 250-275 watts RMS @ 4 ohms. If it's a dual voice coil, then you will need an amp with a final load of 250-275 watts RMS @ 2 ohms.

    thanks man..so how do i find out if its a single or dual voice coil..i dont know **** about sounds and stuff

    well it depends. Sometimes it will say it on the back of the sub. If you have the manual that would also help. Most likely there will be 2 positive terminals and 2 negative terminals on the back of the sub if it is dual voice coil.
