Custom STi center console, alcantara wrapped

So this weekend I finally got time to work on my center console, I swapped to an STi console because I picked up STi seats and the heated seat switch is different (plus it just looks better than the WRX one). I originally dealt with the DCCD switch, but it bothered me since it wasn't functional. Originally I intended to put a phone dock in its spot, and had a mock up done..but after using it for a week I removed it (couldn't shift over the phone). I've been doing a lot of Alcantara wrapping so that was ultimately the goal, but first I had to make something for the DCCD switch spot. I ultimately decided to go with a change holder tray like the one on the WRX console.

Here's what my friend was able to make with a rapid prototyping machine (3D printed):

And how it fit in the switch spot:

The console has a little contour to it, so I used body filler and filled in the gaps and smoothed it all (made covering it easier anyway):

I picked up some genuine Subaru all-weather coasters and cut it to fit in the bottom of the tray:

All wrapped up and piecing it back together (note, the heated seat switch normal sits flush, but I shaved the mounting holes so it would stick up a little higher than the alcantara):

Also did the shifter surround to match. I didn't cut out the STi logo, but may in the future:

And all assembled back in the car:

For real tight corners and smaller parts I use brush on contact adhesive. For the larger/flat areas I Use a spray adhesive that's for headliners. Both hold really well (I've had other parts wrapped for almost a year with both).

Pic of the spray stuff (strongest I've found):

It's possible, but I haven't done it yet. Just needs relay and the wiring harnesses farmed out of an STi. Hoping to tackle that project before the winter.

Turns out that stuff isn't as strong as the spray version of contact cement. Just bought it from lowes..they have the small spread on bottles (for tight corners) and the bigger spray type.
