Cool New BOV and car problem

So I just installed a recirculate BOV into my 08 wrx and whenever i let go of the gas and let it drop the rpms go really low and sometimes the car turns off. What did I do wrong? Do I have to tune it? Let me know what you think. Thanks.

W R X didn't you already ask if you should get a BOV? I'm telling you, 99% of the subaru community doesn't like BOVs, personally, I have one, 50/50 Turbo xs, I don't have the issue you are having. Put the stock one back on, see if that helps.

Exactly which one did you install? Did you make sure to adjust it properly after installing? The spring tension should be set to where it just barely holds full boost (I would use a boost leak tester to set the pressure 2-3psi higher than my target peak boost)..

If it's a quality recirculating valve, like Forge or Tial, AND you adjusted it correctly, then I would assume either it is defective, or you didn't install it correctly.. probably the later.

To be fair, this is a recirculating BOV (BPV) and the stock BPV on the 2008-2014 WRX is known to leak.

Yes I did. All I had to do was adjust the spring tension. Now it runs like a charm!

It's called "tuning" the BPV. Different manufacturers use different methods. Some use different springs, others use washers or spacers that you add to increase the spring pressure. Are you SURE it wasn't included?

Yeah I'm positive it didn't come with any other spacers or springs but it's an atmospheric bov so it's pointless my wife bought it for me so I had to put it on
