    Backup camera

Hey guys. This might seem odd but after contacting Subaru. I was informed that a backup cam with the head unit is only a factory install. I was thinking of getting one but I'm very hesitant on aftermarket. I don't want to lose Bluetooth functionality with a new head unit. Any recommendations and possibly parts/labor costs if anyone has done this before?

This is all coming from mainly not being able to see f*** all when I'm backing up. Don't get me wrong I'm still getting used to the car but that little spoiler is starting to feel like a nuisance. Makes me wish it was a '06 one and not this. Didn't realize how bad it was til I opened the trunk while still inside -_-

Another reason would be for navi and maybe xm..
What do you guys think on this?

lots of plp have aftermarket double din head units with after market camera capabilities. most head units these days come with blue tooth functionality that are double din; excluding some company's lower end offerings but a lot will fit the bill for this.

hu 300-600 (depends on model of course and what else you want but for example my friend picked up a nice 7" BT pioneer deck for like 280).
    universal camera - 100-200
cables / din kit - 50-200 (do u want steering wheel buttons to wrk? you'll need module(s) for that, hence the price range.
install - idk like 5 hours would be like 250-350 depending on the shop.

these are just rough guesses on price. nevertheless you'll need to do some research of what some of us have done with our wrx's for specific ideas but what you want can be installed on any car. goto some audio shops, ask questions, get quotes, see who you feel comfortable with; unless u know of a good shop already...

OR you can open your drivers door and lean out the car and look behind you as you back up. wrks well for finding the back of my hatch but im tall so im like gumbie when i do this.

Sorry meant the originator of the threat but on a side note how to you like the scan gauge? I was looking at the originally but then went with the ultragauge I liked how it was smaller and had more customizable gauges per page

i like it a lot. i bought this originally while trying to hyper mile my 02' civic and it carried over to the wrx nicely. i drive with the "gauges" screen selected where i have current mpg, avg mpg trip, throttle position, and mph. i use trip time, distance, boost, some other things as well on longer trips.

Buy a new HU with bluettoh get the Axxess steering wheel control module to retain steering wheel controls and a back up camera thats all you need to do. Go to this site and contact him http://ae64.com/20-pinfwdharness.htm

Also if you replace the stock HU you may want to do that first and test how the sound before upgrading them.
