green wire connector under driver dash?

so i was looking under my dash driver side by the pedals and i saw these two green wire connectors male/female unplugged and thought thats odd so i connected them and turned on the car to see wat wud happen. when i turn the key to the on position the check engine light started flash the rad fan started kicking on/off and it sounded like the fuel prime kept kicking on/off too. i wanted to try to crank the engine to see wat it wud do but i was afraid of doing more harm than good so i just disconnected it and left it alone. it looks like they shud be plugged up since they fit and are the same color but i dont know does anyone have a clue wat those wires do or are for im sure it was disconnected for a reason but wat? i will get some pix to show u wat im talking about next post. if anyone has any info i wud greatly appreciate it thanks.

It's the test connector plugs. Leave them not plugged together.

Those connectors put the car into test mode.. when plugged in they switch various things on/off so you can see if they are functioning correctly. That is also what you use when flashing different maps to your ECU..
