    Shift Knob Failure

Hey guys and gals, noob here with a very simple question!
I just picked up an 07 wrx limited, and the previous owner had the subaru/momo short shift kit put on.
I have a Perrin knob that I want to put on, but the momo knob will NOT budge!
These knobs are supposed to twist off, are they not?
I pulled up the interior panel and looked under, and I'm using so much force that the shaft going into the transmission is flexing and it just looks like I'm about to destroy something.
    Please helpppp!

The shift knob should come right off if you turn it to the left (counter clockwise). If you feel that your are going to twist the shift lever too hard maybe try and get a pair of locking pliers on the lever and put some torque on in the opposite direction, although I don't think it would break unless the previous owner put some time of glue or thread locker on the lever before they put the knob on (which would have been dumb).

Yeah you're right, I got it off the other day. I was complaining to my friend about it and went to show him, and it just twisted right off xD

    Thanks for the replies, everyone!
