sunglasses holder to replace driver's hand grip

One of the mods I made to my now-defunct 2001 VW Golf GLS turbo was a sunglasses holder that replaced the hand grip above the driver's door. One like this

It made the car quicker off the line, better handling, and improved the gas mileage. While driving it to test out the sunglass holder, women were making eyes at me.

A search on "sunglasses" in the Interior Mods forum produced no hits.

Anyone have any info on this must-have mod for Subies?

I wonder if the holes would align with a VW sunglasses holder.

I did the same thing in my 01 Passat.
