Found a way to smooth out the finish of Plasti Dip. Saw this on a YouTube video,

Once you apply the xylene over you initial spray you can either shoot one-two additional layers of Plasti Dip over it, or better yet shoot an enamel paint over top. This works well with interior pieces where you want a smooth clean finish. Cool thing about paint over Plasti Dip is you can still peel it back off when you want to change or restore back to initial finish.

Thanks guys! It turned out great. As for texture, I did about 7-8 coats (can and a half). Started out light then went heavy on the 5th+ coat. Finish came out like smooth solid plastic. Also had a space heater running in the room the entire time for quick drying. Best $20 I spent.

    Looks really good, nice job!

Slightly off topic...thoughts if Subaru offered a factory option to have these pieces match your exterior color, would you go for it?

Would you also like Subaru to put that same stitching that embroiders our seats, onto the shift and emergency brake boots as a standard feature?

Thanks and yes I would go for the color matched trim. An option to choose what ever color you want would be good. Also yes on stitching as standard.

Hey wanted to know how you did this? I'm thinking you took off the pieces and plasti-diped them separate away from the car but looks really clean. Also I have a blue subie wondering if doing a blue trim to match the exterior or red to match the gauges would be better

Yeah i did take the pieces off. The dash was quite easy to take off it's just clips. You have to remove the gauge trim also. The door trim is held in with 3 screws on the bottom and the top is held on with something like epoxy. Heat it up first to get it soft and it should come off easy. As for color its up to you, I went with red because I wanted it to match the already red/black factory color scheme. Under the hood I'm doing black/yellow color scheme.
