My driver side floor mat gets worn down to the bare material that holds the fabric together after only about 6 months. I assume this isnt uncommon for a manual car but how can I avoid it? I have STi floor mats in the 05 ATM and that square of thicker material isnt even lined up to wear my foot rests while driving.
Has anyone thought of a creative way to prevent floor mats from getting ruined due to this?

I'm not sure how normal that is.. I'm still using the same floor mat from my original WRX I bought in 2002. The mat probably has around 160k on it and real signs of wear, other than being matted down.
I do drive barefoot most of the time, so that probably has something to do with it.
Doesn't sound normal. Have you tried all weather mats?
hehehe, I could not resist. Do you have a lead foot?
