    Q: STi OEM Navi Unit

Question on the stock Nav unit for the sti.
Ive been searching couldnt find anything.

    Does it display car data?

Like MPG, Boost guages/reading, TMPS for which tire is low, Miles to empty that sortha thing?

And if it does, to anyone whose replaced their head unit did you loose the data? or do you use an adapter to get it back?

Just you general thoughts on it.

It's funny cause you would expect that from an OEM navi :P

Maybe, but Subaru doesn't make their navigation units, Panasonic does, IIRC. Not sure who supplies Nissan. Also, Nissan has a long history of displays like that, back to the early 90s Skylines. Many of their other models in Japan had digital gauge displays in the center console as well. Subaru dabbled with that sort of thing in the 80s, but seemed to abandon it shortly thereafter.

It would have been nice, but not a deal breaker...i think if they started that type of intergrarion like nissan does it would run up the price of the car....i wonder if the BRZ has it...because the inside of that car and its tech/functions is how i see later models WRX/STi's looking. Push button start and all.

I believe the '11 STI Navi unit did in fact display a lot of that data, as well as had a built in calculator (????) but the '12 unit that is made by Fujitsu does not. I have the '12 model in my WRX.

There are a couple of videos on you tube, here's one

    Roadfly.com - 2011 Subaru WRX Review & Test Drive - YouTube
She talks about it right around the 2:08 time frame

As for the Pioneer thing from what I understand that only comes in the Canada version and is really a 920BT unit. The U.S. model comes with a Fujitsu-Ten unit. I have it and have had it out to wire around the parking brake circuit so you can make changes to the map routes while driving otherwise there has to be no input on the VSS input and you have to have the parking brake engaged to supply a ground to the unit to allow for looking up an address or changing your route.

I believe Fujitsu-Ten is the supplier for Toyota, so I guess the influence begins.....
