How are the Beltronics V8 or V6 in comparison to the Sti? I see a huge price difference but not much different in technology or looks or anything for that matter. If my price range was under 300, what would you guys suggest going with?

If your price range were under $300 I'd consider any Beltronics below $250 but above $150 as that seems to be the sweet spot in bang::buck.

is the Sti really that much better than the other Beltronics? I see here the Beltronics Vector 995 which looks very similar to the Sti but is $160 less than the Sti...

Are you sure your area uses laser and/or POP? I live in CA also and here they do not, meaning people are better off turning POP off etc.
Yeah exactly. POP and instant-on are totally different. POP refers to a technology that shoots pulses rather than a steady beam, which is supposed to make it invisible to detectors. Instant-on isn't a technology, it's a means of operation. It has a trigger or other switch to operate it to allow the officer to turn it on instantly, as opposed to the old devices they used to use like the standard gray soda can looking one that was mounted on the rear driver's side window that were always on and took a little while to start up.

Anything from there is pure gain. If you're going to get a radar detector, don't settle my friend!

Here's a picture of how I mounted mine: (I have a 2011 wrx with auto-dimming mirror/compass). Used a blendmount and invisicord. The inviscord taps into the power of your mirror (1 minute install).

I am looking to get the Autodim mirror for my 'stock' mirror now. Do you know if the autodim mirror comes up higher on the windshield or not? I feel the simple one is like halfway down the windshield, and If I add a radar detector it'll make it seem even worse... :/

The only thing new in my line of sight is the v1, sitting directly below my mirror. It's good placement in my opinion because I can just look up and to the right a little bit to see what my radar detector is telling me. It's the same motion as looking into my rear-view mirror. It's secure and doesn't jostle at all.

If you're having issues with your rear-view mirror being too low, you can always just move it upward.. The shaft is held on two pivot points: One connecting to the front windshield and one to adjust the angle of the mirror. Simply grab your mirror and lift it up gently against the front windshield pivot. That should help you out.

Is there any way to install a detector in your grllle or something covertly, but have it signal you in the cabin? I mean, I know thats custom but is it possible to DIY or is that a professional job?

Valentine 1 has a kit to hide it. The K40 system is the standard one for having a hidden install though. Many people in the Porsche world use them.

Nebuka. What length Inviscord did you get? I want to set up mine the same way in a 2010 wrx.
