I just got this kit. The instructions for light placement is a bit sketchy.

The driver side mounts to the plastic knee wall/steering cowl, almost directly center below the steering wheel?

The passenger side mounts where??? the picture looks like below the glove box. There is no place behind the glove box that I can see. I am up there with lights, mirror.... Am I dense or I am not seeing it? Is it easier to just remove the glove box?

BTW Does anyone keep gloves in the glove box?

    Thanks!

Driver side .. I feel it should be straight.. but the holes would only line up this way and I didn't feel like breaking out the drill to oval out the hole in the plastic to make it fit square.

    Passenger side.. very straight forward

you have to take the pics in the directions very literally..

Thanks a lot. I had the driver side right. The brain was just not visualizing the passenger while looking at the sheet. The instructions make it look like the wiring should go straight back.

Any trick to popping the cubby light? I picked up the red one (replace the blue) and was waiting for this other kit to come it.

    Cheers!

I used a thin dull putty knife to wedge out the cubby light holder with some help pushing down on it from above. (reaching into the radio trim hole)

Had some time at lunch to get this done. Took me about 20 minutes. 15 of that was trying to get the wires pulled. Driver side went 1-2-3 I had to pull the glove box for the passenger side. No way was I reaching that without doing that. The glove box is a tool-less removal in the 2010. Now just waiting to get dark. They were not noticeable in daylight.

    Thanks for the help!

I just got these installed and boy was it a pain. I was pretty amazed at how much room there was behind the cuby light to push all the wires to the driver and passenger side. The passenger side was a handful probably because I didn't remove the glove compartment so getting the wries and bolting the LED was fairly tricky.

Thanks everyone who contributed to this post making DIY'ers like me life's easier!

I didn't have any trouble mounting them.. and didn't remove the glove box.. ??

what are you guys doing that I didn't.. or what did I do that you guys didn't? .... Mine took me about 5 min each to mount the two lights/cubby led and about 20 to get the wires where I wanted them (tucked up and out of the way/ziptied) .. done.

thats what I was wondering too. Oh well.
edit: oh! I think I know why.. I used a short screw driver to get to the screw without removing anything.. if using a traditional cross tip screw driver you'd have to get the box out of the way to get at the screw properly. hmm.. helps to have lots of odd tools

Is your dimmer set all the way bright for the pics? Mine are no where near that bright even set all the way up. Did we get the same kit? .. see my pics further down, from your pics it looks like your led's are different.

I would agree, those seem way brighter than mine as well. I have yet to take a good picture of mine yet.

As far as the glove box - I removed mine to help fish the wire from the console to the passenger side. I just couldn't get the wire to cooperate with reaching my hand with it in the way.

ok well i did not run mine to the blue cubby light (which is probably why i didnt see a reason for taking off the glove box). i ran mine from the batery through the firewall to a switch then to the lights. that also might be why mine are brighter.
