    Water inside car/trunk

So i opened my trunk a week or two ago and noticed that it smelled kind of musky...didn't really think much of it. Today when i went to get something out of my trunk, everything was wet. I lifted up the carpet and there was standing water inside the spare tire well, and in two side areas which are also low...It's been raining frequently the past few weeks, so no idea when it started.

There was also dampness under the rear seat butt cushion and on the floor of my rear seats...kind of under my front seats (but none in the front area of the car)

I gutted the entire car...seats, carpeting....and just re-installed my driver seat again. The carpet and what not is drying out in the garage. I think i removed everything in time before it started to mold and mildew....

What should i do? I saved the interior probably....but what about the problem? I checked the weather stripping on the trunk, it seemed fine. I have no idea where to go from here....

Hey I had this same problem. Mostly because I drove into a GIANT mud puddle...but it's probably your seal around your rear window.

    Update:

I found the leak. Got in the trunk and had a buddy hose the car down. My wing must be a little loose.....some water was leaking through the screw holes. I didn't actually notice this until i opened the trunk to get out and saw water dripping through the inner skin of the trunk lid....sure enough that's where the screws come through that hold on the wing. I'm going to replace the seals and tighten it down.

There was also a leak coming through one of the tail lights, so i'll replace both of those gaskets.
