    boost gauge reading wrong?

    I just installe a autometer boost/vac gauge to my 02 wrx and it should ony be boostig stock but it shows 17.5-19.5 I tapped the vacuum line into the by pass valve vacuum line. does anyone know how to fix this

    my car is stock except a cat back exhaust. in first gear it shows 13.5 most of the time but every other gear doesn't

    sounds like it has been tuned/messed with. You should only hit 13.5 in 4th and 5th. What PSI does it boost in 4th and 5th now?

    why should it only boost 13.5 in 4th and 5th? I think it goes up way past 15 psi in fourth and fifth. I got the car from an 65 year old doctor who has owned it since it was brandnew. he had the car fax so I knew it was legit

    from factory max boost is 13.5, they tuned for fuel consumption and all that stuff we hate. thats y max boost only come on in high gears, more load is possibly the reason, who knows.

    oh I see. could the problem be the way I installed the boost gauge?

    so I just noticed when the car is offthe gauge is showing I'm at about 4-5 psi. is that normal? also my vaccum goes between 5-10 when I'm idling. any suggestions
