unfortunately, yes. You dont get a difference in bolster support unless we are talking about JDM impreza seats.
Alcantara grips your butt much better than cloth or leather.
.... otherwise, it's completely an aesthetic upgrade.
But IMO... worth it... getting a set this weekend
