Not sure what you mean by a "tinted" STi cluster, unless you're just talking about the red lighting. I swapped a 2004 STi cluster into my 2002 WRX with no issues. Either one or two wires have to be cut (documentation is available, or I can help you out with this). There are 2 things that prevent it from being a perfect swap:

*the onboard thermometer won't work, because the thermocouple isn't there to send it a signal. It reads a constant 42 or 43 degrees.

*the "rear diff temperature" light stays on. There's a fix for this, but I haven't done it yet.

OP, here is the fix for that:

& here is a walkthrough on the swap itself:

if youre using an 05+ sti cluster:

Damn, you guys are awesome lol. By tinted i mean all the 05+ STi gauges i have seen go dark when theyre shut off, like my sportmax's. I kind of need the rear diff light to work, as it is converted to RWD lol.

The shift light works fine...I haven't heard a buzzer, but I may not have it configured to do so. Also, my hearing is the worst, these days.

    Ray,

When you swapped that out, did you have the ODO corrected? I know there are a couple places scattered around the US that can change them legally if you send them a notarized letter with proof of mileage or something like that.

It would be cool to swap, but I've been nervous of blemishing my clean title next time I renew the registration...

No, my odo is not corrected. It's been a few years, and so far NC doesn't care. I know it will come up when I go to sell the car.
