Dunno about the 02, but it depends on the cluster. I heard a 04 jdm is a direct plug and play for 02-03. Mine came out of a 05 sti and i had to cut a couple wires and shave down some plastic in one of the plugs.

I believe there are a couple of wires to tape off. Either the rev limiter, or something else associated with STi's only.
