i noticed a difference between the STI scoop compared to the WRX scoop.. how hard is it to swap scoops?
Is this even possible?

I believe its just unbolt the old one, and bolt in the new one. Only certain years fit each one though. I am not sure which ones, but you could probably search on here and find it. Or they make aftermarket hood scoops that fit also. You can get some here, Scoops and Vents - Exterior, And I am sure there are a ton of other places too

thanks G.. i see what your talking about with the years matching and what not, I am having a hard time finding a scoop for an 07. I would paint mine white, but I would like to get my hands on an STI scoop.. looks nicer with the point and its a little taller

if you have an 02-03 an STi scoop will not fit. you would have to buy a replica.


if you have an 04/05 wrx, an 04/05 sti scoop will fit.

if you have an 06/07 wrx, an 06/07 sti scoop will fit.


edit: i forgot to mention. the 06/07 sti scoop is the exact same size as the wrx one.

what you probably saw was an 04/05 scoop. they're significantly larger than the newer model ones, however not interchangeable.

they DO however, make replicas which im sure you can find.

well since we are on the topic of an STI hood being able to fit on a WRX... Can the STI wings fit on a WRX trunk without having to drill new holes in the trunk? I have a 04 WRX and debating on buying a STI wing but was wondering if i'm going to need to drill new holes for it to be able to fit, which would suck and probably will get it professionally done if i have to do that.... Anyone know?! thanks!

Yes with a lot of work....Its easier to just swap trunks with someone who has one. Trunks from 02-07 are interchangeable I believe. I think to just put the STi wing on a WRX trunk its like 12 extra holes or something...It can be done but much easier to swap trunks with someone...There is a trunk swap thread on here so I am sure you can find someone in your area willing to swap

as said before 06-07 wrx's and sti's have the same size hood scoop. Thats because there were many wind tunnel test that subaru did to make i hood effective enough for 2 cars

thanks.. i see that. you guys are right. i kept seeing the 05 scoops and not even relaizing it. lol

it's not so much larger.. just bit taller with more of a point to it like an accuall scoop.

wouldn't the 04/05 sti scoop catch more air , thus cooling the ic better ? I've got an 06 wrx and I think the 05 looks awesome. You can buy the 04/05 sti replica for an 06/07 . Someday when I'm rich and famous I will have that scoop.
