The thicker black one, which hooks up with a telephone like connection led to between the frame and the dash panel, impossible to slip anything into. When I gave it the oh so slightest tug it came out, severed, and I think it was that way. On the back of the kicker is the connection for the IC sprayer button and a connection plugged into a blank, which I assume is for a fog light switch, which I dont have installed on my STi. It was spliced into the power of the foglight harness.

The 4 colored wire hanging on the far right is my doing, part of that IC switch relocation mod.

Anybody have any clue what this is?

Looks like the previous owner had a radar detector hardwired to the car. Nothing to worry about.

I was thinking the same exact thing. Good stuff Dez!

As for your wiring problem, I don't have a clue. If you bought it from a stealership, take it back & biatch slap the salesman with the wiring harness you pulled out of there. Boom WHACK done.

Now here's the question...what 12v power wire did they put the vampire clip on? If they vampired onto something and then removed it, you may have an unshielded power wire floating around somewhere. Maybe take a look at the wiring for the map light if you feel motivated. That's where I installed mine...
