I am on the fringe of starting a RHD conversion and am not really sure what im about to get my self into. I know there is allot of work so i don't want to hear about how hard doing a right side drive conversion is, I just need to know the facts on what it will take to complete.
1.Do I need to weld in a new firewall? I hear that the firewall that is in a WRX is the same for US as the JP? is this true? will i just have to punch new holes? I know i need to weld a bunch of new brackets in place for pumps and stuff like that. again Im not sure what i really need to do.
2.Will i have to learn how to read KILOMETERS or will I be able to get MILES to show up using a JDM gauge cluster?
3.What about the Wiring harness is that a freaking nightmare? is there a good way to accomplish this with out allot of headache?
Im soon getting the JDM frontClip in as soon as the place locates one. so Im hoping to get this converted by end of summer.
I know this is going to be a lot of work but in about to get knee deep so im lookig For some serious answers!
Thanks for your time!

I know what you mean Its just one of those things i started to think about and would like to see become reality...You cant say you wouldn't want to help your friend convert his car would you...or if your friend had a RHD you would wan to try it right?
I apprecate you commenting on this thread
You'll save a lot of money as you won't be able to use toll booths and you won't be tempted to buy fast food at drive through windows. Very healthy.
I actually believe so, yes. I think they stamp a "worldwide" piece and then use whatever side they need along the line.1.Do I need to weld in a new firewall? I hear that the firewall that is in a WRX is the same for US as the JP? is this true?
You'll of course need steering from the donor car, but you'll also need a full brake system's plumbing and I don't know how the A/C line going across the firewall works.
Miles are IMO pointless but they're used here so you'll need a conversion done on the cluster if you're going to use the donor cluster. The service is commercially available I think.2.Will i have to learn how to read KILOMETERS or will I be able to get MILES to show up using a JDM gauge cluster?
Hire an auto electrics specialist.3.What about the Wiring harness is that a freaking nightmare? is there a good way to accomplish this with out allot of headache?

See if you can find an old RHD Jeep retired from the USPS fleet in your area. They've usually still got the white/red/blue paint scheme and they tend to have full doors too.

I feel the pain you have incurred with such projects And I know what your saying.......but I must press on! if this whole thing goes south...Ill just swap it back to how it was. Thanks for your concern!
I have a good hook up at a Tuner Shop in Philly so doing this should just be $$$$ spent. which im happy to spend on such a Unique project!

I used to work fast food as a kid, and the cook had bought one of those Jeeps. RHD sweetness but no working reverse gear so we'd have to ceremonially all go out and push him out of the parking space so he could be on his RHD way. Good times.
