Component speaker question

ok, so i have a set of alpine sps 171a component speakers in the front, however i blew the passenger side one out, would it work ok if i put a regular 6 1/2 (similar wattage) and kept the crossover and tweeter? or would it mess it up???

did you blow out the passenger side tweeter, x-over, or woofer?

you could just drop in a new 6.5 combination no problem... it won't hurt anything, even if you hook it up to run both the new speaker and old tweeter at the same time. If the two speakers are not identical (sounds like they are not) you may find that the sound is a little different coming from the two tweeters and that may be annoying.

the best scenario would be to just replace the woofer

but either way, you're not going to wreck anything

yeah i tried too get a replacement one but they dont make it anymore...i just put the one 6 1/2 in and it sounds ok, for now, im looking into just buying a new set of components thanks tho
