So I think its time to quiet the interior down a little. I have looked at several threads on doing dynamat, which I have used before but its a complete rip off $$$ wise. $20 for a 12"x20" square.
I have also used the sound deadening paint before with much success but am not gonna roll that crap all over my floor.
So instead I have found this stuff that looks promising and pending some measuring, (and paying the monthly bills to ensure funding) might be in the cards very very soon.
I'm thinking about buying both these products (qty unsure but Ill post that when I get there). I'll use just the foil stuff in areas where thickness is gonna be a problem, and the foil and foam in all other possible areas.

Have you ever heard of raymat. There has been good talk over on nabisco about that stuff. Cheap too.

+1. Raammat is the shiznit on nasioc.
As far as sound deadening the interior, I totally agree with you. I've read countless threads on the topic as well and I plan on thoroughly deadening all four doors using Raammat and Ensolite foam. (Hopefully deadening all of the doors will be enough, but I'm willing to do more if needed.) When I am going to do this, how much it will cost, and how long it will take me, I have no idea. But it is definitely one of the highest priorities for me because I will be having to make many long drives to and from college very soon. I cannot stand the noise and rattles of my interior. They must go. [/end rant]

How much weight will this add? The site says .35lbs for a square foot. How many square feet would you need to use? My car is not obnoxiously loud, but when I'm on the highway with the cruise control set to 65 it is a little hard to hear soft spoken people on my bluetooth. I'm interested.

It really depends on how much you decide to use...
If you do just the doors, you're looking to add around an extra ~20-30 pounds.
If you get serious and do the doors, floor, rear deck, and trunk that's in the ballpark of ~50-60 pounds.
It really all depends on how serious and obsessed you become with deadening... but for most, just doing all four doors (and possibly a tad on the rear deck) is plenty.![]()

I spoke with Rick over at Rammat and hammered out how much of each product I needed, but then bought a house so car stuff has been put on hold.![]()

most of my noise comes from my tires and the road. i would think just doing the doors wouldn't be enough.
i used dynamat on the entire floor of my car, it made a signifecent difference in sound. it also made my car "feel" more solid over bumps. i no longer hear the RSV, which is fine by me but some people like that sound.
i do agree dynamat is a bit expensive.
