    Shifter knob help

Hey, I've looked all over the site and Google'd it but I can't find what I want. I'm looking for a shifter knob for my STI that's just a simple, round, heavy knob. I'd also settle for a slightly flared squarish shape like the titanium STI shifter knob that actually doesn't fit the STI. Everything I can find has a logo on it or is for a 5 speed. The one that I did find that looked ok was $150! I'm not paying that much for a knob unless it will also give me 5 HP and better handling.

Thanks for the links. I wish that didn't have the indent in the top where you put the sticker though. I just want a shiny round ball. Is that too much to ask?

I'll probably hold onto my STI knob until I'm sure I like the new knob, then eBay it.

Look up WC LATHE WORKS on IWSTI.com. He mills his own shift knobs. From what I hear, everyone loves them. You can get them weighted and also in different sizes I think. I'll find the link.

The ones WC makes are a little lighter than the stock STi knob, I've been thinking about getting one myself. Good price too, $69-$89 depending on custom stuff.

I'd rather my money go to someone who works hard to make quality products, by hand, than some company that doesn't give a poop about me.

I thought the stock one was just plastic wrapped in leather. I've never actually taken it off, but based on the weight somebody posted in that thread, it must not be. According to the post, the stock knob is 180 grams and the heaviest one this guy makes is the 2.0" aluminum ball at 170 grams. That's pretty close, but it would be nice if he made one heavier. Maybe he could put a brass insert in the aluminum ball...

Me too, it's always nice to know you're supporting the little guy. I'm sure he's happy that a hobby he turned into a business seems to be going pretty well. I also like the idea of having a custom product like that, and it's exactly what I'm looking for. No branding or anything, just a shifter knob that does what it's supposed to do and nothing more.

That looks great... I still have the stock 5MT shifter on mine. Why does the weight matter so much?

I prefer the stock shift knob myself. Aluminum ones get too cold in winter and too hot in summer.
