    Switch next to E-Brake

I have an 02 WRX. And there is this little switch right next to the ebrake. The forward position has a little line, and the middle has a circle, and the bottom part has two lines. What the hell does it do? Thanks

No and yes. I will get a pic tomorrow and post it. I have pressed it and nothing really happened. Its not just an on/off switch though. You can push it in forward, or backward/down, or keep it in the center which I assume is off. I'll get a pic up tomorrow cause apparently all 02's dont have it. Thanks guys

Your description of the button reminds me of heated seats switches that I've seen in other cars. They weren't available on the WRX from the factory in '02 (AFAIK), but a driver's side heated seat could have been added by another owner, or the dealer.

    Post up a pic.

It's quite definitely the Homelink Button for the bat cave. Somehow you got Adam West's WRX!

i have the same switch and have decided it is a seat heater. the only difference is that mine has no markings on the switch. (means nothing if aftermarket though.). the owners manual explained it was a heater which is how i came to this conclusion. but now im confused if they were not offered on o2's?

Well, that's why I said AFAIK (as far as I know). Perhaps they were offered from the factory on a few cars, or some Subaru dealers added them....?

    I - Oil Spray

    II - Smoke Screen

Or is it the other way around?

looks to me like someone mounted an aftermarket switch in the factory blank for his neons, or strobes etc......

Pop the switch out and follow some wires around, see if it leads anywhere...

...and while you're there, clean all those crumbs out of the creases/cracks

My guess is some kind of blingin lights...

The reason I said heated seats is because the one dash-two dash thing seems to be a common notation for hi and low settings in their switches:

If it is a seat warmer it should be pretty easy to figure out:

    1. Turn switch on.
    2. Wait ~5 mins.
    3. See if ass gets warm.

If it isn't a seat warmer, it is probably for some after market part that was removed prior to your ownership.

Its not a seat warmer and its not for any retarded strobe lights. I just text the previous owner, lets see what he says.
