probably inside the door panel would be the best spot.

That is what Ive heard, but then people say not to do that due to shield problems.

I mounted mine on the door. When you take the door panel off there's an area with foam on the panel... I cut that out and mounted the crossover on the door where the foam would be...

I've always mounted ones i've installed behind the kick panels. I'm not sure if there's room behind them on Subarus though.

If you can't take your door panel off then maybe someone else should install them for you. Putting them in the door isn't hard at all.

Putting them in the kick panel area isn't a bad idea either and might actuallt protect them from water better...

That's one reason I like mounting the crossover in the door... you only need to run 1 wire into the door and then branch it out internally (assuming your tweeter is still going in the door). I'm gonna be mounting my tweeters in the a-pillar when I redo my system so I think mounting in the kicks will definitely make that easier... Thanks for that idea!

I actually just installed some new 6.5 speakers in the front. Infinity References I ended up mounting the crossover in the door panel with some 3M Tape. As soon as I placed them they stuck so they're not going anywhere.
