    NEW WRX owner looking for answers

    does anyone know if you can hook up subs to the stock head unit? or will there be any need to tear our door panels?

    I did that for a while, used a RF converter on one of the rear speakers. It's about $20 bucks at your local stereo shop and you'll attach your RCA's from your amp into that. Let me know if you need help, I've done this install on several cars. Not the best way, the sound is muffled a bit but long as you have a good sub w/cross-overs you can eliminate most of the unwanted noise.

    hey thanks for the advice... see my plan is to put a monitor to replace the stock head unit, cept i dont have the money for it right now, just enough to get subs, so i have a decent system, not the crappy stock one. but you said the quality isnt too good?

    by doing this, you are going to sacrafice sound quality. to get the best soundin system, you dont have to change everything(speakers, etc), but a new headunit and wiring from there to your subs will increase sound quality much more... but u will get a decent sound from wiring off the rear speakers.. kinda ghetto, but what works works...
