I've made the ads a little smaller, so this solves most of our problem. The whole point of having ads on the site is just like reading a magazine, someone's gotta pay the bills. Advertisers do not want to annoy people with ads and we don't either, but we have to put them in places that can be seen so it works out for everyone.

Google does content match so it tries its best to display ads that are relevent to the contnet of the site, and we're going to have in-house ads running somewhere on the pages too where they're most likely going to be parts vendors. Trust me, I will do everything to ignore the "smack me and win an ipod" ads with rainbow colors flashing in the background.

There are a lot of advertising opportunities that can generate revenues for the site and intellitxt is one of them.

As far as the page load it's not going to really cause any slowdowns, especially for the frequent visitors since the files will probably be cached on your computer, and I'm going to upgrade the server soon so the site will run better for everyone.

Again, a reasonable "member status upgrade" will be implemented for certain supporting members that just absolutely cannot stand the site, or just want to offer to help out the site financially.

Maybe just have an option to turn off ads?

I doubt alot of the people who post on this site every day are really going to be checking out the ads, It would probably be the newer guys just browsing the forum. You could make it like when you reach a certain amount of time here or something.

You do what you gotta do to keep this site running. The only problem I see is that I occasionally mistaken an ad for an actual post. It throws me off
How about giving an option of disabling ads ... for the people who pay a small fee?

It woudn't be so bad if one post in every five wasn't an ad.! Tim - this is awful and way to intrusive. I've seen other forums where you get just one ad. per thread - that would be better.

Currently the ad will appear after the 1st and last thread on the page, so it'll does appear cramped and intrusive if there's only 2-3 threads on the page. I'll see if there's any code to that can chagne it so the ads will be at least 5 posts apart.

I was pretty confused when I first saw them. They don't seem to be displaying any text though. All I see is the name and a blank line.

Ironically, I see an ad right below your post with text in it.

Perhaps you are lacking a plugin in your Apple to see the ads?
