Clubwrx IM feature?

some websites have a dedicated IM.....umm, thing. i don't know much about web design or computer programming.

you are able to know whether a member is online or not. as an alternative to the PM, what about starting an IM conversation?

i understand everyone has some sort of IM on their computers already, but it's too personal to ask for a stranger's screen name, especially in an age of identity theft.

am i completely out of my league here?

sure, but there are plenty of members on this forum that exchange emails, phone numbers, even addresses. an IM would be just another personal feature that makes it much more convenient to meet fellow enthusiasts.

with an IM feature, people can have entire conversations with each other without posting in a thread, or waiting for a PM reply.

if all the socializing and flaming go on behind the scenes, the threads would stay on topic, and moderators would have much easier lives.

I can't really see myself using an IM feature. I'm not saying it's not a good idea. It's a fine idea, I just wouldn't use it. That being said, I would really like to have a Quick Post box at the bottom of each thread. That would make it way easier to reply to threads more quickly, and you don't have to go to another screen.

If you look at their profiles sometimes you will find that people do put their IMs on there. In most cases just use the private message, it's up to them if they're willing to give you their contact information.

I should send my mom that link. She drives a Corolla. I didn't even think they kept track of generations of Corollas.
As for the IM feature, I couldn't really care less. I just think a quick post box would be a good feature.
