Even though I spent a lot of time an effort in creating that pic for you MagikMan, I too am going to have to vote no for sig-pics, because it will get wayyy to cluttered!

Nope. Makes it next to impossible to read any of the posts and we'd only have about 10 per page. Personally, I dont feel the need to show off my car, especially to a community that owns them and probably faster/prettier than mine.

Exactly. I hate trying to read forums with all that junk. Plus, my car only makes limited appearances here.

Plus compared to other forums (like ls1tech) we have a VERY generous avatar size allowance!!!

Just like everyone else, I will toss my 2 cents. The quotes that are currently in signatures are more distracting (and causing clutter, too). I don't really see what the big deal is. I had a sig pic on ephatch when I was there. Just like an avatar, it helps to quickly identify who the poster is. Avatars change frequently, sig pics typically take time to create, so they are not changed as often. So how is a pic, which stands apart from text very well, worse than a block of quoted text which absolutely blends in with every other post?

IMO, none of it really matters. We are all here to discuss things and express ourselves. Pics in sigs, although neat, are not necessary. Qoutes in sigs, although amusing at times, are also not necessary. Mods in sigs, def not necessary, as I have seen the sticky for the comprehensive mods list and it is very easy to link to your post in that thread.

It all comes down to personal preferences. The mods and admin want the board to appear a certain way to the public. It is their decision and we will live by it. When and if they change the rules, we will have more threads and posts stating how everyone is unhappy with the new rule(s). It is this duality that makes decisions by admin difficult. You can't please everyone.

We have htis discussion about once a year, and the result shall remain the same for the same reasons. We want to keep the forum clean and easy to read. If you want to show off any pictures you can just resize it to fit in the avatar. There are a ton of forums where they allow pictures and they don't limit their users' signatures. Often you'll have a page where you have to scroll down 20 times before you get to the end, and there would only be 5 lines of useful information.

I agree, don't get me wrong. I just think there are other things that make you do the same thing. It just seems wierd to disagree with one, but not the other. As I previously said, I will always back the side of admin. They are in their position for a reason

Text also loads a lot faster than pictures. I've been on forums where a 300x150 pic is a 500 KB animated gif. Even if a pic wasn't that large in size, it could still easily be an annoying, seizure-inducing 300x150 pic too. Been there, seen that as well. I also don't see how our large avatar size isn't big enough to see someone's car...never had a problem seeing GottaRex's, WRC_Obsessed's, GNV Motorsports', or dark_rex's cars in their avatars before.

I will totally give you that one! I have a cable connection, so it never matters to me, but I know a lot of people still have slow connections. Even though I have a cable connection, free web hosts for pics, often are slow, slowing down load time some.
