Just make the width a max of 180pixels and save it as a .gif

one thing I've really liked about this forum is that they don't allow pictures in their signatures, and they don't allow large bloated avatars.

I like that we get to have large avatars. NASIOC is so lifeless because you cant have an avatar or signature. These are ways of identifying people and you feel a bit closer to people when you can say "oh hey i remember that picture, i know you." ...and this is much easier than remembering thousands of names, since some people have the same name.

Granted sometimes people use huge sigs, but if they are well regulated then its not bad. And you always have the option to turn signatures off.

I hate sig pics but I like having an avatar. To me it helps me read the forums better because I know who it is by just glancing. Also I think that the avatars here are the perfect size.

If you want to send me the original picture I will resize it for you and send it back to you.

Are you saving as a JPG? If so, what quality are you saving as? If you're putting a high number in there, you're going to get much larger files.

he's more than likely trying to use a larger animation that is beyond the size limit because of the numerious slides in it.

Good point. Yeah, when I've made animated gif's for an avatar, it's always been a delicate balance between image size and number of frames to keep it under the limit.
