is 6k rpm at 5th gear a speed limit ?

well, i was racing with a small racing bike on the freeway.... i hit around 6k...maybe 6,2k max at 5th gear....and i heard a very aweful sound from my engine, like boooooo........(stop)chiiiiiiiiiiiii...., i was at 220 km/h (around)

any idea ?

May be a fuel cut, but I was almost certain the WRX doesn't have one. What was the car's acceleration response when you heard the noise? What was your response (yank off the gas, etc.)?

It could have been the dreaded MIRROR NOISE!

At 220 km/hr you're going about 135 mi/ hr. At very high speed, the mirrors make a howling wind noise. If the car did not lose power, you migh want to consider that it was not the engine.

Yeah, many people have said its from the mirrors. Try folding in your mirrors and going up that speed again, it should go away.
