oil change info in service manual

I was looking in the service manual for the wrx/sti and it says that after the second oil change, at 6,500 miles, you only have to change it every 7,500 miles. I have been changing it at every 3,000 miles. should I keep with this or is it okay to switch to synthetic at 10,000 miles and then just change it every 7,500 miles

You can change the oil in your car everyday and it won't cause any harm. As long as you change it within the recommended interval, you'll be fine. I just switched over to Mobil 1 5W-30 at 1300 miles.

The Knack. It's a rare condition characterized by an extreme intuition about all things mechanical and electrical ... and utter social ineptitude.

I have been running Mobil 1 (my personal favorite) since first service on my '02 wagon. Now at 54,000 trouble free miles. I go the full 7500 between changes, but check level regularly; you may experience a drop that you probably wouldn't notice in 3,000 miles.

i use mobil 1 in both cars and change it around 5K miles. i live in a harsh climate though so sometimes i go shorter. if you live in a moderate climate year round and do lots of highway driving, you should have no problem stretching 7500 or dare i say more using synthetic.
