Engine Knocks when car starts up

Last week and today when I went to turn my car on, I noticed it would knock. I immediately turned the car off. Have any of y'all had this happen to you? My car has 23,000 miles and brand new oil in it.

I think that this is a common problem that everyone seems to ignore. I have heard it on my car in cold weather, but it seems to go away in the summer.
