    Stupid Oil Question

My car has about 10k miles on it, and I always keep it garaged. It's gone through 3 oil changes so far, the first two with 5W30. The third was with 10W30. I just went to my local Costco store and all they had was 5W30 oil. I bought it.

My question is, would there be anything wrong going from 10W30 back to 5W30?

    Not a problem.

If you are in the south CA and you do not ski or live in the mountains, so you never see very cold weather, you don't need to worry about a 5W oil, but using one will not hurt you either. At worst it'll increase your apparent oil consumption -- and I can't predict how much unless you're using M1 (in which case I'd guess by 300 ml per 3K miles or so based on my own experiences).
The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry. Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms, 1929
