went outside today and my car won't start. It is getting power from the battery and the starter is turning the motor over. I can hear the fuel pump turn on and smell the gas if I try and crank it long enough. Car just turned to 37000 miles and the nearest dealer is 150 miles away.....what to do?

Check the connection to the spark plugs, hell check all your connections.

Also make sure the cables are securely on the battery terminals and there isn't a mound of corrosion at the connection point. This problem has 0wn3d me several times when I thought my fuel pump/something else had kicked the bucket. Good luck.

Make sure your crank position sensor is properly hooked up and engaged, a lot of people have this problem on Nasioc with standalones

will check all the connections I can get too, the car is getting power so its not a battery issue, the radio and lights work fine, just like its not getting spark. Is there a single connention that from an ignitor to the coils, cause I do not see why all 4 coils would not fire. and where exactly is the crank angle sensor located. I have the FSM but any help without having to search through that bastard would be appreicated

Not to beat a dead horse, but the problem I was referring to will make it seem like the car is getting plenty of power. This happened to me twice...I was freaking out checking coils, etc...and the starter turned over, instruments on, everything, etc. and it ended up being loose/corroded connections both times.

    Good luck.

Checked plug wire and coil connections?

You could check the continuity and resistance if you've got a tester......

It turns over? just no spark? Possibly remove a plug to see if it is sparking?

ok pulled the coils and got spark, pulled the injectors and got fuel, tried to jump the car and got nothing. Stopped and cussed and damn near about to cry, tried it again and it fired up reluctantly. Not sure if it is running right or not, heard some funny noises but I could just be parinoid. Its idleing right and pulling the normal .57 hKPa....I will update you guys later if it acts up.

ps, I left off that god awful plate covering the fuel rail and injectors cause it was a pain to get off and on......do I need that, it just looked like a cover to me?

Maybe your ECU is bad? I know it's rare, but it happens. Toyota had a whole batch of cars last year with fried ECUs with similar start up/running problems. Just a thought.
