    Cleaning Perrin foam intake

Does anyone know if I can use a K&N filter charger kit to clean a Perrin short ram foam filter element? I have one laying around and thought I'd use it before buying the Perrin kit.

I though about that too but Perrin said not to use it because of the different chemicals inside. I bought the recommended oil just to be safe.
