Question EGT sensor came out (HELP)!

the sensor is just laying there directly across from where it threads in... i'm not sure how it came out! anyone ever have this happen? PLEASE HELP! i don't think anything will happen to the engine, any feedback on that also would be appreciated! my car sound like a freekin' old VW bug! cool to a certain extent, it just enhances the boxer rumble! a lot!!!

    thanks in advance

This happened to me last year. It just shook itself loose over time. Since I had a constant CEL indicating the EGT probe was bad anyway I simply replaced it with a bolt coated in copper gasket maker. Not sure if the gasket sealer made any difference but I checked it the other day when I installed new plugs and it hasn't moved.

As for the EGT probe I tossed it and plugged a resistor from Radio Shack into the wiring harness. Here's the tutorial

High temp Loctite or else just get a catless U/P and scrap the EGT gauge

I don't think anything would happen to your engine but you'd have a big hole pre-turbo so you'd lose a lot of boost. But best bet is to put it back or plug the hole ASAP.

I used regular locktite and a lock washer and haven't had any problems.
