    Synthetic Oil

    I called my local dealership and they recommend that i don't use synthetic oil... only normal oil. However they gave me a run around answer on why... What do you guys use? have you ever heard not to use synthetic on ur WRX?

    MAAAAAANY people including myself go with 5W-30 Synthetic. Maybe that dealership doesn't do synth and that's why they recommend against it

    I don't know. But many people told me once you change to synthetic oil, you have to keep using it. If you change back to regular oil, your engine might be smoking!!

    Ummm, the wivestales posted above are not true. Synthetic is great, I've used it for many years. Things to remember:

    No matter how great the oil is, the filter is just as important.

    Proper drain intervals based on how you drive and road conditions will be the economical way over the long haul.

    For more info, do a search for bob the oil guy. Great site that will answer many of your questions.
