i thought it was 3,000 miles......... to properly break it in.
4,000 if you REALLY wanna baby it.
Anything over 1000 miles doesnt do anything exceot make you you not enjoy the car for a while. The thing is during those first 1000 miles to vary the revs and keep fluctuating them and DONT GO WOT. Also the trick is also to keep it below 4k rpms until about 400 miles, then start increasing to 5k at 500 miles and 6k at 750 miles and by 1000 you should be near redline. However its best to change the oil at 250 and 1000 miles. But to use non-synthetic oil until 3000 miles. At least thats the way Im doing that.
Just do what you are doing for about 1,000 miles then drive it normally. Don't abuse it unless you have to.
clutch, shift, gas, clutch, shift, gas, shift, clutch, gas, clutch gas, shift... oops!
