    Jiffy Lube 15k maintanace

My car has 14,100 miles and they stated that the engine needed to be flushed, and the Injectors cleaned. What a joke. Last time I took the car to the dealer, they stated that my antifreez was good.

    NEVER trust those quick-lube places...

They don't make money off of a $25 oil change. They make money by telling people they need stuff fixed when it really doesn't.

I had them flush my brake fluid on my Civic at 130k miles. I went back for another oil change at 134k and they told me again that I needed to flush my brakes. I've been doing my own oil changes since then.

Yeah some of them will try to rip you off. Not all of them are bad.

Btw I always do my own stuff. Save the money and get better oil
like Mobil 1. Just knowing it is done right is priceless

Btw I use oem filter and new crush rings. Ring was free

    Free?

They charge me $0.80 for the rings. I must look like a Thousandnaire or something.

    Well the reason is :

Me = 2002 Silver WRX sedan got it a month ago.
wife = 2002 Sedona Eed Impreza Outback sportwagon, got it in 2001.

So the salesman is like so happy. They should have given me

I personally don't think you need it as long as you're not leaking any oil. But for peace of mind I just go to the dealership every once in a while and purchase 5 at a time and store them somewhere for later use.

    Friends,

Can someone define what a "crush washer" (is this just a regular washer?) is? What size do I need etc...thank you.

one came with your car... but it's been flattened. Hmmm... let me see if I can explain what it looks like. It's a washer with a hollow ring to it so when you tighten the drain plug it flattens out. The Subaru Dealer should know what it is. I even think my mom's Nissan Maxima has one but I never change that one out.

you know something....my first oil change was done by the dealer...they wouldnt put the Mobil 1 in so I did the second one myself...but when I went and removed the oil drain plug, I didnt see any washer. Do they usually put a new one on when you get the oil changed at the dealer? Heh...sorry...i just want to be sure that I am not going to be leaking oil anyday soon....actaully I have real nightmares (literally!!) about my drain plug coming off while I am driving and losing all my oil...then I am driving and the engine seizes and the car is dead Not a pretty thought...

Just buy it some the dealership, and you'll know what it looks like.

They also allow for easier removal of the oil drain plug.

There are only 2 dealerships within decent driving distance of sunrise and I despise one, so I am contemplating changing the oil myself. Yup, nothing like doing it yourself to give you peace of mind.

Some places call them drain plug gaskets. When I asked for crush washer, the guy didn't recognize it. After I explained it's function, he told me they call them drain plug gaskets at their store.
