So I threw another CEL, second in two weeks and now they say the computer is bad and needs to be sent to the factory for resetting/formatting.
What is going on, what will they do to the computer?

Can you expand, that's what I was thinking but do not know enough about what they need to do to press the issue. Seems to me that they should just order a new ECU and have it delivered?
thanks
I have physically swapped ECUs with another WRX to try to diagnose a UTEC issue we were having. They can take an ECU out of any other same model year WRX and put it in your car and it'll be fixed!!!!Originally posted by car returns

Aparently this is not that uncommon.
I had a misfire CEL, they had to send out the ECU for reprogram.![]()
I understand that it is a problem of the ECU being to sensitive.
I think it affects the early 02 models more than others.
Will they at least give you a loaner? I can understand having to send the ecu out, but you should NOT be out of a car while they address the problem.
they did not offer one, like they should have, but it is no big deal, my wife is at home with our new baby so I can use her car, which is better than any loaner would have been.
