    Cross-rotation bad for stock tires?

I have a stock WRX and took it in for some alignment work. The mechanic said that during the process of diagnosing the misalignment, he cross-rotated the tires.

Is this wrong? The manual says not to cross them, only go front to back.

I have the stock 16" bridgestone tires.
Speedometer? Is that the thing next to the tach?

Diagonal rotation is RECOMMENDED for the stock tires. You have nothing to worry about.

    for directional tires...it's front-back only.

Uni-directional (like the stock Potenzas), front-back or cross

so, when you cross them, are you supposed to flip the tires around on the wheels themselves? otherwise i'd think the tread would be facing backwards.... ??

No, it doesn't matter. The tread is Uni-directional, like Tan said. They will work fine on either side of the car.

Owner's manual clearly says front to back only, no cross or diagonal rotation.
However I have concluded that the owner's manual is full of crap in this case. With RE-92, rotating left/right or diagonal is no problem.
