Break-in

Has anybody here ever experienced problems from not following the break-in guidlines?

I went over 4k a few times and used cruisecontrol for a 10 minutes at time.

I had trouble adjusting to the awd clutch, so when I was getting out of gear, I didn't have the clutch pedal all the way out until 3 grand, so i went past 4k fairly often and the only problem I've had with the car as of 11,500 was a fried clutch at 8500 miles. I have no plans on keeping this particular car until the warranty runs out because of this, though. I'll trade for another before then and break it in right, next time. I think my car was the dealership's "play car" it already had 212 miles when I bought it and I'm pretty sure the previous test-drivers took it well past 4k. But again, no problems related to the break-in period as of yet.

You wouldn't see any problems till later in life.

Relax bro! Don't worry about that one bit. It happens (a bit over 4k) and cruise control for 10 minutes is no problem at all - you just don't want to use it for hours at a time! You're doing just fine. No problems at all. I wouldn't reccomend redlining it all the time, but a couple trips up to 4.5k or even 5k isn't going to hurt anything. Besides, some people DO recommend that you redline it in every gear all the time for the first 1000 miles. I disagree, but certainly what you've done isn't hurting it!
