A/C Condenser Problem - Serious

Help me, my 2002 WRX has 26K miles on it and I have to replace the A/C condenser for $528.00.

Has anybody else had this problem? Please post your answer.

Subaru won't honor the warranty saying the damage is caused by "physical damage".

Yes, of course it's caused by physical damage - have you seen how exposed the condenser is on an impreza? It sits under the lower front bumper deflecting every rock in the road.

This is a poor manufacture design and I'm not happy about replacing this and having it sitting vulnerable to every pebble in the road. It's bound to break again!

Sorry, that is the first I have heard of someone needing to replace the condenser.

Maybe go to another dealer and see what they say or find someone who removed their AC and buy the parts off them.

But yes, if something hit your car like a rock or whatever then it is not covered under warranty.

Is that $528 for the dealer to fix it? I would buy the condensor on subaruparts.com and have an A/C shop put it in.

have you thought of puttig a screen or chicken wire in front of it, could help to keep crap out of it.
but you are right its not in a very good spot.

that's a warranty issue. i'd start looking for other dealers, or contact someone higher up.
